We are pursuing a very light stocking policy on the lake, which already holds a reasonable stock of rudd, perch, pike, tench and bream.
We are anxious not to disturb the natural nature of this species mix, but in November 2022, the lake was stocked with a variety of additional fish including rudd, tench and crucian carp. Additionally, we will be ‘seeding’ the lake with additional, high-quality carp which – in this extremely rich water – should grow on nicely and supplement the existing low number of large carp.
“We make no secret of the fact that this is not a ‘carp water’ on which you have any guarantee of a run,” said Mark Williams. “In 22 acres, the estimated 20 carp we have can easily ‘disappear’ for weeks on end. But it is a water which repays hard work. Above all, we are determined that, despite its proximity to the city, this remains a wild fishery.”
